I thought I would wish all of you a Happy New Year, Although I will have a new baby boy at the first of the year I can't think of a better new year resolution than to spend time of things that matter most in my life.
Our local newspaper called me for ideas and tips on how to spend more time with family, I was so honored to have our local newspaper come to me for my two cents on spending time with loved ones, They called me because I was the leader of a mothers group in our town. I thought I would just recap what I said, but hope to give you some simple insights to how you can spend real family time, please note we do not have a perfect system and it changes all the time. In general these are the guidelines and principles we use:
We have a family council, usually it's just my husband and I. and it's at least once a week we pick a day and usually it's Sunday, however if a problem arises we council with each other when the problem happens and not wait. especially if I am upset, I don't like festering emotions or problems. During Family council we will discus our financial situations, our sceduale, things that pertain to the week, the season, and so on. Most of these family councils happen over the dinner table or on a car drive.
I try to have a dinner at the kitchen table, besides this being the best time to talk as a family, I believe that children should have a chance every day to learn from mom and dad at the same time, Family dinner is that time. go here for more info on why it's so important for families to eat together at dinner
For more of a moment by moment or life happens I have this principle, live in the moment, not the past and not the future, Embrace your life as it happens. Love life and all the set backs, and share your time and moments with your family. And last and most important, I got my ah haa moment when I heard a Talk from my church leader that stated love is really spelled t-i-m-e, time.
"we must place high priority on our families. We build deep and loving family relationships by doing simple things together, like family dinner and family home evening and by just having fun together. In family relationships love is really spelled t-i-m-e, time. Taking time for each other is the key for harmony at home. We talk with, rather than about, each other. We learn from each other, and we appreciate our differences as well as our commonalities." Go here to read the whole talk.
I hope that you all have a happy New Year, and this winter take time to be with family, it's the best time to stay inside and do family things.

Babycakes Cake Pops
There are some things that you want; but don't really see the point in really needing it right? For example, "another Kitchen gadget" that will take up space and become a dust collector. Yes I am really guilty of said items, And I haven't really bought anything for our kitchen for a whole year! (go me) although the thought of having a Pampered Chef party does sound like "fun" So my point is I am really trying to not buy kitchen gadgets and think and act on "make it do or do with out" when it comes to the kitchen.
However when I got my Babycake Cake Pop maker I was totally excited, yes my mother-in law knows me too well, and knew that this would be something I would make and like to do... And so began my love affair with this (girly) kitchen gadget.
I was skeptical and first, thinking this might not be what I expect either the the cake balls/doughnut holes will not come out good, and it wont be worth my time or the whole process of cooking these things will not be worth my time. I WAS SO WRONG, I LOVE IT, and think every mom that has a toddler should have one, as they are great for a small snack with small hands.
I started with something easy, doughnut holes, they turned out wonderful, I used a chocolate muffin mix (yep 39 weeks pregnant, not thinking about calories much these days) I used a sugar glaze to frost/coat them .
I decided that putting the batter in a bag, cutting the tip off of the bag will help, less mess and faster to fill the compartments to make it easier I put a bag in a cup to fill.
Filling the pop cakes compartments was a breeze with a bag. cooking these little babies took 4-6 minutes. super fast for a hungry toddler
Yummy, with a small muffin mix, the ones that make like 6 muffin is perfect size for a small family.
Other ideas that I have or want to do are:
Corn Bread nuggets: make Corn Bread from a Jiffy Mix, use syrup to add a glaze if needed.

Corn Dog Nuggets: go Here
Cinnamon Roll nuggets/balls, if you don't feel like making the dough Pillsbury dough is a great option go here for the directions
and of course there are the regular cake pops you could make, those possibilities are endless, when making the cake mix use only half of the water, or you could do brownie bites/balls just follow the directions as cake like brownies.
I am sure I will have more posts on this awesome useful kitchen gadget to come! If you have one I would love to know what you love to do with yours.

If you’re curious about gingerbread play-dough, it is just like any other version. The only difference is it’s a beautiful brown color and has a rich enticing aroma, just like real gingerbread.
It looks almost like the real thing, minus one thing…taste. You won’t have to worry about your kids eating this dough. Although it smells good, it tastes every bit as yucky as every day play-dough.
Orange Juice's 'Secret Ingredient' Worries Some Health-Minded Moms
Natalya Murakhver, a New York food writer and mother of an 18-month year old daughter, loved her premium brand orange juice -- the "100 percent pure" and "not from concentrate" kind that comes in the colorful carton and tastes consistently delicious.
That is, until she said she learned from her first-time moms group that there's a "secret ingredient" in all premium orange juices that companies are not required to put on their labeling.
Now, after writing Whole Foods, she refuses to buy her favorite, "365" juice, amid uncertainty about its contents.
"One of the moms said she had read about [how the juice is made] and they held it in tanks for up to a year and it pretty much lost all of its flavor and had to be reinvigorated with these flavor packs, which are essentially chemicals," said Murakhver, 40, and co-author of "They Eat What?: A Cultural Encyclopedia of Weird and Exotic Food from around the World."
For the last 30 years, the citrus industry has used flavor packs to process what the Food and Drug Administration identifies as "pasteurized" orange juice. That includes top brands such as Tropicana, Minute Maid, Simply Orange and Florida Natural, among others.
Murakhver said the addition of the flavor packs long after orange juice is stored actually makes those premium juices more like a concentrate, and consumers need to know that.
Experts estimate two-thirds of all Americans drink Florida orange juice for breakfast, and companies spend millions on their marketing campaigns touting its health benefits.

Arsenic in Apple Juice Fears Raised by Study Watch Video
The "not from concentrate" brands appeared on store shelves sometime in the 1980s to differentiate them from frozen juice and other bottled concentrates. Despite its high price tag -- now up to $4 a carton -- sales of the premium brands have soared.
But those juices don't just jump from the grove to the breakfast table.
After oranges are picked, they are shipped off to be processed. They are squeezed and pasteurized and, if they are not bound for frozen concentrate, are kept in aseptic storage, which involves stripping the juice of oxygen in a process called "deaeration," and kept in million-gallon tanks for up to a year.
Before packaging and shipping, the juice is then jazzed up with an added flavor pack, gleaned from orange byproducts such as the peel and pulp, to compensate for the loss of taste and aroma during the heating process.
Different brands use different flavor packs to give their product its unique and always consistent taste. Minute Maid, for example, has a distinctive candy-sweet flavor.
Kristen Gunter, executive director of the Florida Citrus Processors Association, confirmed that juices are blended and stored and that flavor packs are added to pasteurized juice before shipping to stores.
Flavor packs are created from the volatile compounds that escape from the orange during the pasteurization step.
But, she said, "It's not made in a lab or made in a chemical process, but comes through the physical process of boiling and capturing the [orange essence]."
The pasteurization process not only makes the food safe, but stabilizes the juice, which in its fresh state separates. Adding the flavor packs ensures a consistent flavor.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) grades the quality of the juice based on color, flavor and defects.
"To get grade A, we have to blend it," she said. "Because oranges and their growing seasons vary, both the Valencia -- 'king of the oranges' -- and its lesser cousin, the Hamlin, are combined in the process.
"A processor is faced with harvesting the crop and giving the consumer some sense of what [he or she] might be getting," she said. "You buy branded orange juice, you kind of want it to taste, generally, the same. That expectation is met by blending different varieties and, in order to blend, storage is involved."

Coupon vs Not Couponing
I found this on theKrazycouponLady and thought I would share this with you.
What I Learned from My 6 Month Coupon Break:
Six months ago I canceled my subscription to the newspaper, stopped checking the couponing websites hourly, and let several Register Rewards from Walgreens expire…Uggg! I was just plain burned out. My third baby was 3 months old, and I had just returned to work full time. Newspapers were piling up with coupons unsorted, and I just couldn’t deal with it any more. So I had a radical idea: Why not just shop like a normal person?
The first few months were fine. We had a nice stockpile of everything our family needed. In fact, our storage of food and other products was overflowing! It was nice to start seeing a little wiggle room in our pantry. I didn’t have to un-stack 6 boxes of cereal to get to the cans of peaches piled up in the very back of the cupboard.
Around month 4, we were still doing okay. It was late summer, and the local produce stands were overflowing with fabulous fresh food. We went grocery shopping about once a week usually just to get milk or charcoal for the grill. Living off our stockpile was amazing because we spent far less than our allotted weekly grocery budget, leaving more money for fun!
But then the downward, spending-too-much-on-groceries spiral began. It started suddenly but quickly escalated out of control! First we were down to one pack of diapers. With two children in diapers and one still in the process of potty training, this is a big deal. “Okay,” I thought. “I’ll just buy a box of Great Value diapers, like any normal person would.” Little did I know I would have to buy a box every 1-2 weeks, and at close to $20 a pop it was adding up quickly!
Next, I realized we only had one jar of spaghetti sauce left. Yikes! Spaghetti is our go-to meal that we have at least once a week. How could this happen? We had close to 20 jars. I guess that explains why we only have 3 boxes of spaghetti noodles left too. The final straw: when my husband had to buy body wash at FULL PRICE! Anyone who has couponed for any length of time knows how easy it is to get health and beauty products for free. What were we doing wasting our hard earned money paying for products we can easily get for free? This could not be happening! That’s when I realized I NEEDED to get back to couponing.
To sum it up, this is what I learned from my coupon sabatical:
It is a very good idea to have a 6 month stockpile of items around the house–not only to be prepared for a job loss, but for other times when you just might not want to go to the store.
Only buy items you or your family will use. Those cans of peas I got about a year ago for a ridiculously low price are still in my pantry. Even though they were close to free, and even though our pantry became close to empty, we still didn’t eat them. I’m sorry, we just can’t stomach canned peas.
No deal is a good deal if it goes to waste.
Use it or lose it. Your newspaper subscription, that is. The point of getting 6 (or however many you get) newspapers a week is to save money with multiple coupons. But you’re losing money if you just let your papers pile up. Cancel if you need to, save a tree, then re-sign up when you are ready.
Couponing can save you thousands of dollars. During the end of the 6 months without coupons, my husband and I found ourselves going to the store 2-3 times a week. We were out of items we got used to having on hand, and shopping on such short notice doesn’t leave much time for clipping coupons or looking for sales. I’m scared to go back and check receipts to see how much money we wasted by not being prepared.
Moderation in all things, including coupons. Cut yourself some slack. You don’t need to get every deal. Sales and seasons cycle. You don’t need to clip every coupon, either. I found myself saving contact solution coupons because they had previously been moneymakers. But I don’t wear contacts. I don’t need to do that. The time would be better spent playing with my kids.
This Sunday our dry spell came to an end. I was excited beyond words when my 6 Sunday newspapers were delivered. I no longer have to shop like “normal” people, and it feels so good! It will take a little time to rebuild everything we have depleted, but I am re-energized to keep on top of the organization and stockpiling. It was good to have a break, but it is GREAT to be back!!!

"'These pretty biscuit-like wedges are very moist and flavorful,' notes Judie Anglen, Riverton, Wyoming. 'They're tasty slathered with butter, honey or jam...or use them as a base for creamed dishes,' she suggests."
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons cold butter or margarine
1 cup mashed potatoes (prepared with
milk and butter)
1/3 cup milk
1 egg
Directions:
1. In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Combine potatoes, milk and egg; stir into the crumb mixture until a soft dough forms. Turn onto a floured surface; knead gently 10-12 minutes or until no longer sticky. Gently pat or roll dough into a 9-in. circle about 3/4 in. thick. Cut into 10-12 wedges. Separate wedges and place on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees F for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.

Ready In:
1 Hr 30 Min
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter
2 cups white sugar
2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 (12 ounce) bag fresh or frozen cranberries
1 1/2 cups cake flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons butter, softened
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup sour cream
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Generously grease a 9 inch springform pan. Wrap aluminum foil around the outside of the bottom to prevent leaking.
Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in 1 1/2 cups of white sugar, water and cinnamon until sugar has dissolved. Bring to a boil and then add the cranberries. Stir to coat with the sauce, then pour into the prepared pan.
Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt; set aside. In a medium bowl, beat the remaining 6 tablespoons of butter with 1/2 cup white sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla and sour cream. Mix in the dry ingredients. Pour the batter over the cranberries in the pan.
Bake for about 50 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool on a rack for 10 minutes, then run a knife around the outer edge. Invert onto a serving plate and remove the springform pan.

I Just Earned $12 in Free Amazon Credit!
As many of you know, I just love survey sites. I spend a few hours each week taking them and save my money to pay 100% for Christmas each year. Well I recently joined a new one and I’m pretty excited about it. It’s called MommyTalk. New members get a $5 credit added to their account, plus there are over 70 surveys you can qualify for right away! You’ll earn money for sharing your opinions on new products, advertisements or services and occasionally you’ll get free full size products to try! Here’s how to get started:
Stop over HERE and sign up for a free account by answering a few questions.
You’ll come to a page of offers – you can click “no” for all of them and go on to the next page to complete your registration.
Check your inbox for a verification email and click to confirm your account. Now you have $5!
Now sign back in and check your dashboard to see all the surveys available for you to take. Here’s what mine looks like today:
As you can see, I have 76 surveys available ranging from payouts of $1-$7. I started with the $7 survey and it took me under 20 minutes to complete. Since I already had my $5 bonus, I’m already up to $12!
Once your account reaches $25 you can cash in for Paypal money or Amazon gift cards. You can pick and choose which ones are worth your time based on their payout.
thanks, momsbyheart, I have and do other groups like this and love it , this looks great!!!

Disney Thanksgiving Printable: Mickey Mouse Pilgrim Candy Box
Fun and Easy!!! You just to print and cut then tape or glue!!!

Mickey Mouse Pilgrim Candy Box
Will you let Pilgrim Mickey have a spot at the table this Thanksgiving? Don't worry ... he doesn't eat much and even brought his own turkey leg!
Instructions:
Use scissors or a craft knife to cut out Mickey's body and each of his arms. Do not cut along dashed lines in the body or arms -- these lines are where you will fold the paper.
Take Mickey's body and make all of the folds along the dashed lines for the body and the tabs. Make each fold away from you except for Mickey's legs. For Mickey's legs, fold the top dashed line towards you and the bottom dashed line away from you. This will help Mickey sit on the edge of a table or shelf.
Glue the tabs to the inside of Mickey's body. The glued tabs will create an open box on Mickey's back.
Fold each of Mickey's arms in half along the dashed line and glue the two sides together. Be careful not to glue the tabs at the end of each arm together. Instead fold the tabs outward in opposite directions so it creates a base to attach the arm to Mickey's body. Glue each arm to Mickey's sides.
Drop a few pieces of candy into Mickey and make a special delivery!
