Paper Flowers

A fun and easy way to make some time go by during this rainy yukky weather we have been having is by making flowers all you need is some pipe cleaners, cup cake liners, and markers and other things to decorate the flower. once you like your design poke the pipe cleaner through the middle of the bottom of the cup cake liner and fold the the end over so the flower wont fall off... Layer cup cake liners if you want a full flower look.

Sam’s Club Open House – No Fees for Non-Members!

Sam’s Club Open House – No Fees for Non-Members!

If you’ve been wanting to try warehouse shopping, here's your chance. Sam’s Club is having an open house this Friday 4/15 – Sunday 4/17. Non members can shop from 11am-6pm with no service fees! If you sign up for membership during this event you’ll get a free Sam’s Club cookbook (while they last) and a $10 e-gift card for SamsClub.com.

When comparing prices, remember that Sam’s Club does not accept manufacturer’s coupons. Also, it has been my experience that many of their grocery items are priced on the high side. Those that are moderately priced are usually still higher than what you’d pay at the local supermarket when you combine sale prices + coupons.

For example, I found Horizon Organic milk (half gallons) for $3.04 at my local Sam’s. The local supermarket has it for $3.38, but I have a $1/1 coupon that drops the price to $2.38.

The best deals I’ve found at Sam’s have been on books, DVDs, electronics, tires and clothing. It doesn’t hurt to stop by and have a look around during this free event to see if membership might be worth it for you!

    thanks,momsbyheart.net

I agree with her, just shop carefully when you and if you go shopping there. I know its a fun place to shop and you can find different things you might not find at your local supermarket. If anything this i a great way to see if you might like it! HAVE FUN!!!!

    Just thought this was cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Easter (Craft)

I just thought that this looked really cool!

The Easter Story {Craft}… in an Egg!

I love Easter! The bunnies are cute and I’ve honestly got a serious affection for Cadbury creme eggs!

I especially love the Easter story, and one great way to share the story of Easter with your kids is through the ‘Resurrection Eggs’ sold at Hobby Lobby, Wal-Mart, and several bookstores.

Now as a frugal girl… if you haven’t already bought these, here’s a thrifty way to make your own set!

My little guy actually made some as a craft a few years back in school!

    What you’ll need:
    Empty egg carton (1 dozen)
    12 plastic eggs
    Various additional supplies mentioned below
The outside of the carton can be decorated with paper, etc. as well…

Now there are different ways to make the eggs, but here’s how my little guy made his…

Each egg will need to be numbered {1 – 12} … see the picture at the top of this post.

Here’s what you’ll put inside each egg:

{Egg #1} Put a picture of the world, a cross, and a heart in this egg and the following….on a piece of paper, write or type: World and heart ~ For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son… {John 3:16} God loved us so much that He sent His one and only son to die for our sins.
{Egg #2} Put a small leaf or branch in this egg and the following….on a piece of paper, write or type: Palm Leaf ~ On Palm Sunday, they put palm branches and coats on the ground and waved palm branches at Jesus, shouting “Hosanna!”
{Egg #3} Put half of a ritz cracker or other small broken cracker piece in this egg and the following… on a piece of paper, write or type: Bread ~ Jesus was having Passover, and it was called the Last Supper. He said, This is my body that was broken for you.
{Egg #4} Put one hershey’s kiss in this egg and the following… on a piece of paper, write or type: Kiss ~ Judas told the soldiers who Jesus was by giving Jesus a kiss.
{Egg #5} Put one nickel in this egg and the following… on a piece of paper, write or type: Judas got paid 30 pieces of silver for being bad and betraying Jesus.
{Egg #6} Put one toothpick in this egg and the following… on a piece of paper, write or type: Thorns ~ They put a crown made out of thorns on Jesus’s head.
{Egg #7} Put one nail in this egg and the following… on a piece of paper, write or type: Nail ~ They nailed Jesus to the cross.
{Egg #8} Cut a small piece off of a sponge and put it in this egg with the following… on a piece of paper, write or type: Sponge ~ They gave Jesus “pickle juice” {vinegar} to drink in a sponge.
{Egg #9} Cut a small piece of tissue, toilet paper or paper towel and put it in this egg with the following… on a piece of paper, write or type: Wrapping ~ They wrapped Jesus up in cloth and buried him. When he came back alive, the wrapping was left behind.
{Egg #10} Put a small rock in this egg and the following… on a piece of paper, write or type: Rock ~ The stone was rolled away on Easter morning because Jesus rose from the dead.
{Egg #11} All that goes in this egg is the following… on a piece of paper, write or type: Empty ~ He is not here. He has risen!
{Egg #12} Put a penny or a gold dollar {if you have one} in this egg and the following… on a piece of paper, write or type: Gold Coin ~ Because of what Jesus did on the cross, if we believe in him, ask him to forgive us of our sins, and ask him into our hearts, we get to be with Him in heaven some day! Heaven will be so fun, and will even have streets made of gold!!
Once you’re done… every day leading up to Easter, open 1 egg and read that part of the story!

I hope you enjoy making these with your kiddos, and the fun family tradition they’ll become!!

    thanks,thefrugalgirls.com

    Eggs

How to tell if an egg is fresh!
You can easily guage eggs' freshness by gently placing them in a bowl of cold water. Really fresh eggs will droop to the bottom of the bowl and lie on their sides. somewhat fresh eggs will stand on the end and bob aout in th ewater. Old eggs will float-and should be discarded

    Thanks BHG.com

    Hard-Cook Eggs Step 1

PLACE eggs in saucepan large enough to hold them in single layer. ADD cold water to cover eggs by 1 inch. HEAT over high heat just to boiling.

    Step 2

REMOVE from burner. COVER pan. LET EGGS STAND in hot water about 15 minutes for large eggs (12 minutes for medium eggs; 18 minutes for extra large).

    Step 3

DRAIN immediately and serve warm. OR, cool completely under cold running water or in bowl of ice water, then REFRIGERATE.

    Bubbles solution

My Daughter loves bubbles and surpisingly so does my 10 week old puppy, they both like to try to pop them! So when I see a ton of dish soap or shampoo on sale I stock up for bubbles. you could just dilute the soap with water, but I like to add a little more, here is an easy recipe, that you can make for a fraction on the cost than buying bubble solution

2/3 cup Joy dish washing soap (or shampoo if it's a good deal, don't add as much water)
    1 gallon water
2 to 3 tablespoons of glycerin
(available in pharmacies or chemical supply houses)
